A while ago my friend,
Dibu, posted the TV shows which he watches. Here is my list:
2424 is presented in real time, with each season depicting a 24-hour period in the life of
Jack Bauer, who works with the U.S. government as it fights domestic threats. Bauer is often in the field for the Los Angeles Counter Terrorist Unit as they try to safeguard the nation from terrorist threats. The show also follows the actions of other CTU agents, government officials and terrorists associated with the plot.
Bottomline : Intense and action packed. Leading actor Kiefer Sutherland won a Golden Globe for his role in the first 10 episodes and turned Jack Bauer into a cult figure.
Current Season :7

BOSTON LEGALThis is legal drama-comedy and a spin-off of the 8 seasons series
The Practice. This series is all about the attorneys working at the law firm of
Crane, Poole & Schmidt.
James Spader as
Alan Shore is absolutely brilliant.
Bottomline : Currently in its fifth season this series is slowly loosing its charm, maybe because of many senior actors and lack of any eye candy in the main cast, not to mention the ridiculous cases the firm gets to defend. The best episode to me is '
Season2 Episode 2 - Schadenfreude'. So if you haven't started watching it, i wouldn't recommend it.
Current Season : 5
Link : ABCBURN NOTICEMichael Westen is a covert operative who has been burned (identified as an unreliable or dangerous agent) who now finds himself in his hometown of Miami, unable to leave. With his assets frozen, Michael is forced to live off his wits and any small investigative jobs he can find while he pursues the reason and person or persons who burned him. He is helped by his ex-girlfriend,
Fiona and another former operative,
Sam.
Bottomline : If you like spy action movies, you will like this one too. You can't help notice how the resourceful Micheal defuses the situation. The main plot is going at a very slow pace with Micheal's investigation meeting one dead end after another, but the side stories provide enough entertainment.
Current Season : 2
Link : USA NetworkCALIFORNICATIONThe series revolves around
David Duchovny as
Hank Moody, a charming writer and novelist plagued with personal demons. He blames his years-long case of writer's block on a variety of reasons, ranging from the hedonism of Los Angeles, to his on-again, off-again relationship with his girlfriend
Karen. Hank constantly deals with the fallout of his drug and sex addictions, while trying to show his family that he can be a good, caring person.
Bottomline : There is David Duchovny and lots of hot women. Need no more reason than that. Also David Duchovny won the Golden Globe for his performance while the show got nominated.
Current Season : 2
Link : ShowtimeENTOURAGEEntourage revolves around
Vincent Chase, a young, up-and-coming actor who eventually becomes an A-list star. His experiences are loosely based on those of
Mark Wahlberg, who is also executive producer on the show. Other characters include his best friend
Eric 'E' Murphy, older his brother
Johnny "Drama" Chase,
Sal "Turtle" who is another of Vince's old friends from childhood and the lovable filthy-mouthed
Ari Gold, his manager.
Bottomline : This multi-award winning show is my favorite and Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold is hilarious. Definitely one to add to your list.
Current Season : 5
Link : HBO
EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMONDThe show revolves around the life of Italian-American
Ray Barone, newspaper sportswriter from Long Island. Very flippant, Ray doesn't take many things seriously, making corny jokes in nearly every situation, no matter how troubling or problematic. Ray lives with his wife,
Debra Barone, their daughter,
Ally, and their identical twin sons,
Michael and
Geoffrey. Ray's parents and brother
Robert, who live across the street, frequently make their presence known to the frustration of Ray and Debra.
Bottomline : The funniest family sitcom ever. I just watched till season 4 and waiting to get the rest. Beware, you might find a lot of similarities to your dysfunctional family.
Current Season :9
Show endedLink : CBSGREY'S ANATOMYGrey’s Anatomy is a medical drama and revolves around
Dr. Meredith Grey who began the show as a surgical intern at
Seattle Grace Hospitall in Seattle, Washington. The characters of the series include a group of surgical interns and the various physicians who serve as mentors to the interns in their professional and personal lives.
Bottomline : Lots of good looking doctors which makes this very unbelievable. But as a storyline with many twist and turns in relationship between the characters. A series for girls actually, i still don't know what i like about it.
Current Season : 5
Link : ABCHEROESHeroes is an science fiction drama series. The series tells the stories of ordinary individuals from around the world who develop superhuman abilities, and their roles in preventing disasters. The series was nominated in eight categories at the 2007 Primetime Emmy awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, and was also nominated for Best Television Series-Drama at the 2007 Golden Globes.
Bottomline : For the Comic Book fan. This has lots of resemblance to the X-Men comics where mutants have different powers. It drags a bit in season 3 but is totally unpredictable.
Current Season : 3
Link : NBCHOUSE M.D.Gregory House M.D., is an antisocial medical genius who heads a team of diagnosticians at the
Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. House's world-renowned department typically only sees patients who have failed to receive a correct diagnosis, making the patient cases complex. Furthermore, House resists cases that he does not find interesting.
Bottomline : This is a great character played brilliantly by
Hugh Laurie. He's the type of guy you want curing you. He will call you an idiot to your face and you'll love him for it. Definitely should be on your list.
Current Season : 5
Link : FOXHOW I MET YOUR MOTHERIn this show the main character,
Ted Mosby, in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother. The other main characters are
Marshall Eriksen,
Robin Scherbatsky,
Barney Stinson, and
Lily Aldrin.
Bottomline : I started watching this after i finished with F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Certain episodes are really funny while the others seem like they are trying too hard. But i still give it the benefit of the doubt hoping it will be consistent later on.
Current Season :4
Link : CBSLOSTLost follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a commercial passenger jet flying between Sydney and Los Angeles crashes somewhere in the South Pacific forcing the group of survivors to work together to stay alive. Their survival is threatened by mysterious entities including polar bears, an unseen creature that roams the jungle, and the island's malevolent inhabitants known as the "Others". It also has the 2nd largest cast in current television shows.
Bottomline : I like this one because of the new concept and certainly a break from all the medical/legal dramas. Also here in each episode they introduce each of the characters, show his/her dark past and how they end up on the island. The second season is a bit tame and feels repeatative, but the action picks up again in season 3. Anyway it will set to conclude in its sixth season
Current Season : 4
Link : ABCPRISON BREAKThe series revolves around two brothers;
Lincoln Burrows who has been sentenced to death for a crime he did not commit, and the other,
Michael Scofield a genius, who devises an elaborate plan to help him escape prison.
Bottomline : The first season is brilliant and addictive. But then it goes downhill but picks up in the 4th season. I hope the dont drag this out too long and finish it by the 5th season. You get hooked to this after the first episode itself.
Current Season : 4
Link : FOXSEINFELDSeinfeld is an situation comedy lasting nine seasons. The show features
Jerry Seinfeld, as himself, and a host of Jerry's friends and acquaintances, who include
George Costanza,
Elaine Benes and
Cosmo Kramer.
Bottomline : This is know as the 'show about nothing' and the best sitcom ever. I'll be finishing this show in few weeks and will do a detail review then. But definitely funny.
Current Season : 9 -
Show endedLink : Sony PicturesTHE OFFICE (US)The Office is an Emmy-Award winning American adaptation of the BBC series with the same name and depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of the fictional
Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
Michael Scott, the head of the Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, feels he is the life of the office; his employees feel otherwise.
Bottomline : This is a different type of sitcom, a mockumetary and wont be liked by all and probably takes some time getting used to.
Steve Carell is probably the world's dumbest boss and the pranks
Jim pulls on
Dwight is hilarious.
Current Season : 5
Link : NBCWEEDSWeeds revolves around a widowed housewife (played by M
ary-Louise Parker) from an affluent California suburb who becomes her neighborhood's marijuana dealer to make ends meet.
Bottomline : The above poster is reason enough to watch it.
