Batman R.I.P #676After 70 years of tackling Gotham's worst villains, Batman's alter ego Bruce Wayne is going to die.

For those of you who don't know about Batman(..ignorant fools..), here is a brief introduction:
The Batman is a character of DC Comics created by Bob Kane in 1939. After witnessing his parent's death as a child, wealthy industrialist Wayne trains himself physically and intellectually and dons a bat-themed costume in order to fight crime. His policy of not using guns nor killing his opponents doesn't make it any easier. The vigilante has been protecting the city of Gotham from the likes of super villains like the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, the Riddler etc. He is supported by the 'Batman Family' which includes Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, The Huntress, Oracle and his bulter Alfred. Batman is also part of the Justice League of America.
Batman has spawned various TV and animated series, and a slew of blockbuster films, including this year's The Dark Knight, the second highest-grossing film on record.

Scottish writer Grant Morrison revealed earlier this year that Wayne would either retire or be killed. Morrison told there would be "a lot more twists and turns to come" before the story was finally resolved. 'Batman R.I.P' which shows the death of Bruce Wayne concluded in issue #681 of Batman. Batman appears to have died in a fiery helicopter explosion. Front-runners to take over as Batman include Tim Drake, who has been Robin since 1991, and Dick Grayson 'the original Boy Wonder' who now protects Gotham City as Nightwing.

Hardcore fans are upset by the turn of events. Personally, I would like to know how this is going to play out. Maybe it is time for some young blood to don the cowl.

In other Batman related news, The mayor, Hüseyin Kalkan, of a Turkish town called Batman said he will explore legal options to sue Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight and Batman Begins, for using the town's name. "The royalty of the name ‘Batman’ belongs to us,” the mayor told a Turkish news agency. “There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us.”
